AirPrompt guide
Use a teleprompter alongside Zoom
A teleprompter can help you follow a prepared script during a Zoom presentation or interview. AirPrompt runs in your browser alongside the meeting. It is not a Zoom plug-in, invisible overlay, or recording tool, and it does not automatically hide your script from screen sharing.
Use a second screen beside your webcam
- Keep Zoom on your meeting computer and place a phone or tablet close to the webcam.
- Open AirPrompt on the computer and create a free room. Paste your script into the controller.
- Open Share and load its viewer link on the phone or tablet. You can scan the QR code with that device.
- Adjust text size for your viewing distance. Leave mirror mode off when reading the display directly.
- Press play from the controller and read one paragraph aloud. Pause when the conversation becomes interactive.
The second device only needs to display the AirPrompt viewer; it does not need to join Zoom. Keep an internet connection on both devices for script and playback updates. If someone else is operating the controller, agree on when they should pause or restart.
Keep the script out of screen sharing
When presenting slides, share the specific presentation window instead of an entire desktop whenever that option is available. Keep the controller and viewer outside the shared window. A second physical device reduces the chance of accidentally sharing the script, but you should still verify the actual participant view.
Zoom describes sharing a selected application window. Available controls depend on the Zoom client, device, and meeting settings. Do not assume that hiding a window locally also hides it from a recording or participant.
Rehearse before the meeting
- Check the participant view with a test attendee or a second account before using confidential notes.
- Confirm the shared content contains only the intended slides or demonstration.
- Check text is readable without large sideways eye movements.
- Keep short paragraphs and conversational wording so you can look away to listen.
- Keep a separate copy of the script. Temporary rooms are not permanent document storage.
If you only have one screen
You can arrange a viewer window near your webcam and keep the controller nearby, but it competes for space with the meeting. Fullscreen apps can cover the script. Try the layout before your call; a phone or tablet viewer is often easier to position.
AirPrompt does not capture camera or microphone audio. Recording stays with Zoom or your chosen recorder. For pairing problems, use the AirPrompt setup guide.
